Government espionage 101

If you're an ordinary American citizen with nothing to hide, then why should you care if the government is spying on you? In her most recent book, "Spying On Democracy," Heidi Boghosian takes a look at this question by delving into U.S. government espionage techniques—from spying on children and political opposition to collaborating with private data companies to create surveillance webs. Espionage, Boghosian argues, has the potential to compromise individual and collective freedoms—the very notions upon which the U.S. democracy has been founded. Boghosian is the executive director of the National Lawyers' Guild. She joins us to discuss her findings. (Photo: AP Images).
