Is the Trump Administration in Chaos?

President Donald Trump turned America’s foreign policy establishment on its head, this week, after he tweeted a plan to remove all 2,200 U.S. troops from Syria, and 7,000 troops from Afghanistan. Likely, in protest over these decisions, U.S. Defense Secretary, Jim Mattis, announced his resignation on Thursday. Mattis has long argued to shore up the military, especially in Syria and Afghanistan. Mattis is one of the few cabinet members left since Trump’s inauguration, after the high-profile departures of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, H.R. McMaster as National Security Adviser, and Nikki Haley as U.N. Ambassador. To discuss, we’re joined by Uri Friedman, who covers global affairs for The Atlantic.
