As President Trump withdraws the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and advocating for deep cuts at the EPA, we talk about urban sustainability and climate with Karen Weigert, senior fellow on global cities at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. She also served as Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s chief sustainability officer in Chicago.

Weigert plans to launch a new project “Powering Global Cities” at the 2017 Chicago Forum on Global Cities, which runs from June 7-9, 2017.

We ask Weigert why she believes that regardless of federal policy, U.S. cities must aggressively pursue innovative and sustainable solutions to environmental problems like climate change.
