Weekend Passport: Inaugural Inherit Chicago Festival To Bridge Cultures
Inherit Chicago, the first intercultural city-wide festival of its kind, kicks off Oct. 1. Thirty neighborhood heritage museums and cultural centers will bind together to bring intercultural ideas, arts, performances, and food to the city of Chicago. Emily Reusswig, executive director of the Chicago Cultural Alliance says, “…looking at the past and heritage, we hope to really personalize the experience, because we all came to the United States as immigrants.” Global citizen Nari Safavi talks with Reusswig and Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center Executive Director Omar Torres-Kortright about the month-long fest. Safavi will also clue us into more global events to check out this weekend.
