Every Friday, our cultural contributor and global citizen Nari Safavi joins us for “Weekend Passport,” a feature dedicated to showing you how you can travel the world without ever leaving Chicago. Today’s show features a hip-hop group composed of two Filipinx and one African American artist, ironically calling itself “White Ppl.” They incorporate a range of influences from Chicago house to folk and electronic dance music into their repertoire and, despite forming only six months ago, have been booked at several venues in Chicago and New York. They’re playing a show at Schubas Tavern this coming Wednesday evening alongside English pop artist Suzi Wu.​
