What Winter Birds Teach Us About Migration and the Globe
More than half of North America’s 650 species of breeding birds are migratory. The rest stay put for winter. Today we’ll talk about what birds stay all winter long and why. Since birds are warm blooded, we’ll think thru how they stay warm and survive in frigid temperatures. And we’ll talk about the role bird feeders in winter. Dedicated birders often aren’t content with just our local birds in winter and travel to where the birds are. Our birding experts Judy Pollack and Josh Engel are just back from Guatemala and Bhutan respectively. We’ll discuss their travels and conservation efforts.
