Mainstream discourse on climate action in the United States has shifted to the left in the past few years, with several politicians at the federal level now sporting policy positions that in previous years were mainly advanced by activists and small political parties. The Green New Deal, for example, went from a vanguard ideology of racial and environmental justice organizations like the Green Party to the platforms of several leading Democratic presidential candidates. Author and activist Naomi Klein joins the show to discuss the relationship between economically redistributive policies and green ones, as well as her new book on the subject, On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal.
