Congressman Still Pushing For Third Airport

U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. is putting more pressure on Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to bring a third airport to Chicago.

Jackson has been working to get an airport built in the south suburban Peotone area for years.

He says it’s time the governor delivered on his pledge to help make the airport happen.

“We can begin a new era on the South Side,” Jackson says. “15,000 new jobs. It’s more jobs than we’ve been promised than we’ve been promised by any governor in the past 50 years.”

Jackson says he’s pointing to the governor because Blagojevich has the authority to transfer state-purchased land for airport construction.
