Winter Heat Could Cost Less

Gas companies will soon announce estimated prices for this coming winter and officials say costs are likely to be less than last year. Officials from natural gas companies will meet in front of state regulators later today to talk about how much this winter will cost customers.

Gas companies secure their supplies in the summer and store them underground until the supplies are needed. With the product on hand companies then estimate weather conditions and how much customers will use during the colder weather.

In 2005, prices shot up as temperatures dipped. A source close to the case says prices are likely to be lower than last years.
