Iraq War Forum At Northwestern Saturday

An anti-war group is hosting a forum on the Iraq war Saturday at Northwestern University’s School of Law.

The American Friends Service Committee has invited witnesses from the military and elsewhere to talk about their war experiences.

Director Michael McConnell says it’s a first step in bringing people together.

“This nation is divided and we have to work toward reconciliation. I think the more forums where Iraq vets and Iraqis can be together, the quicker that reconciliation will happen,” says McConnell.

McConnell says the goal is to spark Congressional hearings at which people can testify under oath.

Saturday’s day-long program will begin at 10 in the morning.

Meanwhile, this month has been among the worst this year for military deaths in Iraq.

Six Illinois soldiers who died in October are from Illinois.
