A Chicago Group Demands Action in Zimbabwe

A group of human rights and civic organizations in Chicago says Americans need to pay more attention to what they call a crisis in Zimbabwe.

They say hundreds of thousands have been displaced and inflation has reached 3700 percent.

James Thindwa is part of the coalition, called the Chicago Forum on Zimbabwe.

THINDWA: The people of this country, in this city in particular, there’s been a lot of activity focused on the war in Iraq, but there are other important events taking place in the world and certainly Zimbabwe is in a state of crisis. It’s one of those situations that calls out for immediate attention.

The group is holding a public meeting on the situation in Zimbabwe in downtown Chicago today.
