Illinois Tourism on the Rise

The Illinois Bureau of Tourism is reporting record increases in visitors to Illinois.

Deputy Director Jan Kostner says last year ninety-one Million people came to the state, the highest number of tourists ever.

Kostner says attracting visitors to the state benefits everybody.

KOSTNER: We created more than 1800 jobs the past year. So we’re putting people to work, we’re helping to put money into the state, to help pay for key programs like health care, education. So it’s really a win-win situation.

Kostner says last year’s tourism generated twenty-seven Billion dollars.
