259 Arrested in Prostitution Sting

County Sheriff Tom Dart says his office is concentrating on getting rid of prostitution on the streets and on the internet. He says more than 250 arrests were made during a four month sweep. More than 200 of the arrests were of female prostitutes. Dart says his vice unit is just getting started.

DART: We’re going to continue to target the areas where there’s been a history of this to try to literally completely shut down the prostitution operations in those areas once and for all. For the internet side of it, we’re just trying to do as much as we can to shut down that, but we’ve got no delusions of grandeur there.

Dart says vice officers found ads soliciting sex on classified ad sites. He says the sheriff’s office also is investigating some leads to organized crime that were uncovered during the sting.
