Children's Museum Prez Takes Aim at Relocation Proposal Opponent

The proposal to move the Chicago Children’s Museum from Navy Pier to Grant Park continues to cause controversy. Children’s Museum president Jennifer Farrington sparred with 42nd Ward Alderman Brendan Reilly over the matter yesterday. Farrington defended the museum’s focus on Grant Park as the site of the new museum. Reilly criticized Farrington for not having estimates comparing the cost of operating the museum at Grant Park versus other sites in Chicago.

FARRINGTON: It’s not like your comparison shopping Jewel to Dominick to Target. Developing plans for a site is a complex process. It is not easy to pursue multiple sites at once.

The Chicago Plan Commission will examine the proposal on May 15. The Chicago City Council is expected to take up the move in June.
