Tribune Company’s Superstation Changes Name, Restyles Image

Tribune Company’s national satellite and cable TV station is changing its name and its image. Superstation WGN is now WGN America. The station also unveiled a dramatically different logo yesterday.

Jessica Bellucci is Manager of Public Relations for the station.

BELLUCCI: Moving forward, the strategy for WGN America is going to be more aggressive, edgy, non-traditional. I think it’s a radical departure from where we’ve been. And I think that our new look is going to reflect a lot of the programs we’re going to be adding.

Bellucci wouldn’t go into any programming specifics.

Several new broadcast executives were hired at Tribune Company in the months before the marketing makeover.
