Crowds and Possible E. Coli Alerts Expected at Local Beaches

With temperatures heading toward 90 degrees today the Chicago Park District is expecting big crowds at city beaches. But recent thunderstorms might create problems for those who want to cool off in the lake. Ellen Sargent is with the Park District.

SARGENT: Often times weather conditions such as storms can possibly increase the amount of non-point source E. Coli that can come either from storm water run off or just the turbidity of the lake itself.

Sargent says historically the Foster Avenue and 63rd Street beaches most often have E-Coli problems. People who want to swim should look out for a yellow or red flag at the beach.
