The Chicago Bulls formally introduced their newest member—top draft pick Derrick Rose—to the media today.
Red roses decorated the podium and chairs at a United Center press conference this morning, in honor of Rose, a Chicago native.
ROSE: My whole life is like a dream. In high school I did great. My past has been great. And this just to top it off, I’m playing the highest competition of basketball and it’s in my home town. I really can’t believe it right now.
Rose is expected to make his debut in summer league games starting next week. The former Simeon High School and University of Memphis star is the second Chicago-area basketball player to be first draft pick this year.
Naperville’s Candace Parker was picked first in the WNBA draft in April.
