Democrat Bill Foster has defeated Jim Oberweis in the 14th District. Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert occupied the seat until his retirement in March. His departure prompted a special election when Foster claimed the seat to complete the remainder of the term. Foster is a Geneva physicist.
