Pacific Exile

Michael Lentz

GI/file

Many intellectuals and artists fled Nazi Germany for America’s pacific coastline. Michael Lentz rediscovers these lives through memory and fiction, lives in which all eyes are trained on the past while the present of exile is backlit by uncertainty.

Writer, poet, musician, and professor Michael Lentz (born in 1964) has authored numerous books, among them Muttersterben, for which he received a prestigious Ingebord Bachmann Prize in 2001.
