Koenig & Strey Bought Out by Buffett Firm

A firm owned by billionaire Warren Buffett has bought a North Shore-based real estate company.

The Wilmette-based realty company Koenig & Strey was acquired by an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway. That’s the company run by Warren Buffett, the world’s second richest man last year, according to Forbes magazine.

In a written statement, Doug Ayers, the head of Koenig & Strey, says the acquisition makes the company a stronger force in the Chicago real estate market. Terms of the deal were not made public, but Koenig & Strey will keep its name. The company was founded in 1961 and has 21 offices and about 900 agents around Chicago.
