The press secretary for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is responding to a report published in the Chicago Sun-Times last week. Jacqueline Heard is criticizing the newspaper for a headline that reads “Daley’s press secretary owns reputed drug house.”

HEARD: There is something really wrong and deeply flawed with a system that would allow that. That’s all I have to say. And I think the facts speak for themselves. The mayor doesn’t have to defend me. The facts defend me.

Heard and her husband own an apartment building on the city’s West Side. One of the tenants allegedly sold drugs on the property and was asked to leave. The tenant has reportedly moved out.

The Sun-Times printed a retraction stating that Heard and her husband handled the situation correctly.
