Illinois Governor Pat Quinn plans to head to Denmark next week.

That’s where International Olympic Committee members will announce which city will host the 2016 Summer Games. At a news conference, Quinn likened the Olympics to a worldwide party.

QUINN: It’s all about jobs, economic growth. And also making sure the world knows what a great place we have in Illinois and the City of Chicago.

Quinn will join Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and First Lady Michelle Obama. President Barack Obama still hasn’t committed to go to Copenhagen - but he did send a letter to IOC members promising Chicago would, “Welcome the world with open arms.”
