CTA Discusses Renovating Trains on North Side

The Chicago Transit Authority is still considering a massive reconstruction on the Red and Purple el lines. The CTA yesterday wrapped up public hearings on the plan to completely rework the two lines north of Addison. Evanston resident Virginia Payton says the project is overdue.

PAYTON: It seems to be slowly crumbling. Some of the stations are quite old. I’ve had out of town guests who were really quite amazed by - they felt they were in a vintage movie, making jokes about, can we walk to the next station faster?

CTA officials say it could take 10 years to get financing in place.
