A winter storm should hit the Midwest early this afternoon, carrying with it up to a foot of snow in some areas.

Rich Brumer is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

He says the storm will bring a mixture of snow and rain to Illinois and Indiana.

BRUMER: If you’re in Chicago-area, it’s not going to be all that much of a deal. You’re probably going to get a few inches of snow, but it’s not unmanageable.

Brumer says the storm should blow out of the Chicago-area by Wednesday afternoon.

He says drivers could face high winds and icy conditions as the storm leaves.
