The University of Notre Dame enters a new era for its storied football program with the introduction of a new coach today.

Just 10 days the firing of Charlie Weis, Brian Kelly takes the helm of a job he says is a lifelong dream come true.

The Irish faithful have high hopes Kelly can find the same success at Notre Dame as he did at the University of Cincinnati.

Mike Hutton covers ND for the Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana. Hutton says he thinks Kelly will be able to handle the pressure of the job.

HUTTON: I think he did well today. Today is kind of his first big test in terms of exposure and pressure. Part of the pressure is the amount of people that care about Notre Dame football. Some love it, some hate but everybody sort has an opinion and everybody pays attention to everything you do and everything you say.

Kelly’s first game as Irish head coach will be in South Bend on September 4 against Purdue.
