One of Chicago’s main arteries - Wacker Drive - is getting a $366 million facelift. The three-year project includes work on Wacker’s upper and lower levels from Randolph to Congress Parkway.
Gov. Pat Quinn said Wednesday that the project is expected to create 4,000 construction jobs. It’s part of Illinois’ capital construction program, and Quinn says they have the money to begin work this spring. Construction is expected to last until 2012.
The governor’s office says the work will include increasing clearance on the street’s lower segments and replacing entrance and exit ramps.
