Cook County Hospital Could Get A Face Lift

The old Cook County Hospital building could be in for a makeover. County commissioners today will debate converting the former hospital into offices. The project is estimated at more than $100 million. The ornate, historical building is along the Eisenhower Expressway on the near West Side. Landmarks Illinois in 2002 put the building on its endangered buildings list. The Hospital was built in the early 1900s. The county wants extra money from the City of Chicago to help pay for the renovations.
