Chicago Mayor Richard Daley wants some new gun restrictions across the State of Illinois. The city’s proposing legislation that would limit the number of handguns someone could buy to one per month, among other proposals. Daley says there’s not enough emphasis on gun control in the U.S.

DALEY: Why do I have to take my shoes off? I have to take my shoes off before - to get on a plane. Why? Why is it we’re concerned now only about taking shoes off and why aren’t we worrying about people carrying guns in our society? Or possessing guns?

Daley’s announcement comes a week after the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case challenging the city’s ban on handguns. The head of the Illinois State Rifle Association says Daley’s proposals hurt law-abiding gun owners.
