Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says his wife has been released from the hospital.
First Lady Maggie Daley recently underwent a leg operation related to her ongoing battle with cancer. The mayor says his wife is recovering.
DALEY: My wife is out of the hospital and she’s doing very well. And so I thank everyone for their cards, prayers and flowers. We really appreciate that.
Maggie Daley’s leg had been damaged by the cancer and treatment. Doctors inserted a metal rod into her leg to strengthen it. The First Lady was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2002.
