Illinois Governor Pat Quinn says George Ryan shouldn’t be freed from prison because of a change in the law. Ryan is a former Republican governor of Illinois. His attorneys say Ryan should be let go since the U.S. Supreme Court changed the Honest Services statute which prosecutors used to convict him. Quinn says he disagrees.
QUINN: I really feel after the jury has decided the case that George Ryan should do the time.
Ryan was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.
