Rogers Park Synagogue Carries On After Vandalism

SHARE Rogers Park Synagogue Carries On After Vandalism

Leaders of a synagogue in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood say they are moving on after a vandalism attack yesterday.

Police are still investigating the damage at Temple Menorah which includes broken windows and a slashed tent that’s known as a sukkah.

John McLeod is with Temple Menorah. He says the main focus now is preparing for the upcoming Jewish holy days.

MCLEOD: The other organizations do what they do and they have reasons to count numbers of incidents they think could possibly be religiously motivated or anti-religiously motivated. They do what they do, we do what we do, which is carry on.

Police haven’t called the vandalism a “hate crime”, but the incident comes during the Jewish holy season and just a few days after a Quaran was burned outside of a Muslim mosque in Chicago.
