ISBE Sets Passing Score For SAT College Entrance Exam

The Illinois State Board of Education set passing scores this week for the SAT college entrance exam.

The state’s standard is 70 points higher than what the SAT considers the minimum for college readiness.

ISBE board members say they’ve heard from school districts that are confused by this difference. The board says the state score is intended to assess a student’s level of mastery, while the SAT standard tells an admissions office that a student is 75 percent likely to get Cs in their core freshmen courses.
