The Truman Phenomenon

When Barack Obama declared his candidacy in Springfield back in February, he wasn't shy about comparing himself to Abraham Lincoln.

But lately, the president many candidates seem to want to reincarnate is Harry Truman.

That trend even merited a cover story in Newsweek a few weeks ago titled “Wanted: A New Truman.”

One man has been paying special attention to that trend – that's Truman's grandson, Clifton Truman Daniel.

Daniel is director of public relations for Truman College here in Chicago and a member of the board of trustees for the Truman Presidential Museum and Library.
