Are Cell Phones Safe?

For years, the preponderance of research and studies found that cell phone and wireless technology posed negligible or no health risk at all.

Most studies also argue against any connection between cell phone usage and brain cancer.

The overwhelming majority of research and scientific opinion states that any biological effect is negligible in the short term.

But there's no data on what the long-term effects may be.

Dr. George Carlo is a scientist and epidemiologist. He is the current Chair of the Science and Public Policy Institute in DC.

He's also the former chair and chief researcher of wireless technology research for the wireless industry.

This weekend, he'll be speaking at a number of events in the Chicago area.

But before he begins his scheduled appearances, he spoke with Eight Forty-Eight's Steve Edwards about the potential health risks of cell phone
usage.
