The Simpson Family Lands in Vermont

The upcoming release of the new Simpsons movie has sparked a war of words between communities across the nation.

The popular FOX TV series is set in the town of Springfield.

But fans have long debated which Springfield it was:  Springfield, Illinois, Springfield, Missouri, Springfield, Virginia?

So as part of the pre-release publicity, 14 different Springfields produced videos that made the case for their town as the real home of the Simpsons.

And the residents of Springfield, Illinois pulled out all the stops to land the prize: The town with the best video gets to host the premiere of the movie on July 27.

The winner was announced yesterday, but it wasn't Spingfield, Illinois.

It was Springfield, Vermont.

Tim Farley is the Executive Director of the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.
