Robert Irving III

Robert Irving III

Robert Irving III has worked as a keyboardist, composer, arranger, record producer, educator, and visual artist.

He is perhaps best known for his work with Miles Davis during the 80's.

After a nearly 20-year spell since his last outing as a leader, Irving has just released a new compact disc.

New Momentum features the bass-work of Buster Williams and Marlene Rosenberg, with Yussef Ernie Adams on drums.

Eight Forty-Eight's Richard Steele recently invited Robert Irving to our studios to play some tunes off the album and talk a little about his life.

You can hear Robert Irving as the featured pianist with the Great Black Music Ensemble for their Tribute to Fletcher Henderson at Millennium Park tomorrow night at 6:30.

He'll also take part in the South Shore JazzFest on August 4th, and the Chicago Jazz Festival at the end of August.
