Public Defender Defends Job

Cook County Public Defender Edwin Burnette is expected in court today – in an effort to save his own job. He's asking a judge to postpone a termination hearing scheduled for next week. The hearing is at the bequest of County administrators – who argue Burnette is an ineffective manager. Burnette's response? That Board President Todd Stroger is just playing politics with the public defender's office and other government offices.
