Dueling Critics

The scene is a courtroom – in Purgatory. The witnesses include Sigmund Freud, Mother Theresa, St. Peter and Satan. The trial will, for once and for all, determine the guilt or innocence of Judas Iscariot. Can he be forgiven, or does he have a one-way ticket to the fiery depths? In Gift Theatre Company's The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, humor and hip-hop culture provide entries into redemption and religious faith. The production has just moved over to the Victory Gardens Theatre, and here to tell us if an evening with Judas and friends will be heaven or hell, are Eight Forty-Eight's dueling critics Jonathan Abarbanel and Kelly Kleiman.

The Gift Theater Company's The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, at Victory Gardens, runs through July 20.
