School Lunch Politics

The National School Lunch Program has a long and complex history. A new book from a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago tackles just that subject. Susan Levine is the author School Lunch Politics: The Surprising History of America’s Favorite Welfare Program. Eight Forty-Eight's Alison Cuddy recently spoke with Levine, who says the program originated in grass roots efforts.
