Science Chicago Gets Underway

Just a little to the East of the University of Chicago campus, tourists and school groups regularly converge at the Museum of Science and Industry. Both are places you might expect to find an experiment or two. But a partnership behind the newly launched Science Chicago initiative hopes to call attention to the countless other places science occurs, like Fermilab, local hospitals, or the front car of the El train.

Dr. Rabiah Mayas is the Science Director for the program. Chicago Public Radio's Gianofer Fields recently spoke with Mayas, who says there are some stereotypes to fight.
