Jonathan Miller on the Authentic

Spike Lee has been making movies for more than twenty years now. But the heat and controversy generated by his early films like She's Gotta Have It and Do the Right Thing have never really gone away. Now after scoring a hit with 2006's Inside Man, Lee is back with the film he says he's always wanted to make.

Miracle at St. Anna is an epic tale of World War II, and in particular focuses on what Lee says is the forgotten story of that war–that of the Buffalo Soldiers, the African Americans who fought and died during the conflict. The film is out today and so here is Eight Forty-Eight's film critic Jonathan Miller, to give us his take on the new Spike Lee Joint.
