Chicago's rich architectural heritage has recently become a little bit richer. While working on the Wabash Ave. side of the old Carson Pirie Scott building, work crews made an unexpected discovery of ornate cast-iron facades created by the great Louis Sullivan.

The iron work had been hidden for generations behind metal panels and masonry. Now, the work is being restored to its original state and will soon be unveiled for everyone to see and enjoy.

We recently talked with Paul Fitzpatrick, Senior VP of Development with the architectural firm of Joseph Freed & Associates to find out more about the history and the mystery behind the discovery.
