Earlier this year, the landlord of the Sullivan Center announced plans for two high profile retail tenants to move into the building. Now both retailers— high-end grocer Fox & Obel and Billabong International, an Australian surf-wear company—have pulled out. This has created new concerns about the viability of retail on Chicago's State Street. At the very least, it's a challenge for the landlord Joseph Freed and Associates, which has been re-developing the historic building.
