Dueling Critics: Grey Gardens

One of the best or worst parts of the holiday season (depending on your point of view) is interacting with the relatives. Sometimes they're fun and wacky. And sometimes the encounter can be sad and disturbing.

The same can be said about meeting the two main characters in the musical Grey Gardens. The mother-daughter pair “Edie” and “Little Edie” Beale are characters drawn from life – they're respectively the aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. But despite these famous connections, we find the two shut away from the world in their dilapidated mansion in the Hamptons.

For a review, we turn to our own eccentric duo, Jonathan Abarbanel and Kelly Kleiman, Eight Forty-Eight's Dueling Critics.
