The economy isn't the only problem facing journalism. There's declining advertising revenue and a dispersal of readership as people access news all over the place via the Internet. In the past year, one Chicago publication received national attention for some success with a newer model of journalism. The online Chi-Town Daily News raised hopes for the potential of nonprofit, hyperlocal news coverage. But late last Friday, rumors started to swirl that Chi-Town was shutting down.
