What the Tax Cut Could Mean for Cook County Health Services

When Cook County Commissioners voted last week to roll back part of the sales tax hike, Board President Todd Stroger warned the results will be dire. He believes the loss of revenue will mean further cuts to a health system that provides for the poor. And he said that could mean some people will die needlessly. The Chicago Current, an online news journal, is examining those claims by taking a close look at the health system's financials. Today’s piece explores why two county hospitals may be on the chopping block, and what other options remain. Chicago Current Reporter Alex Parker joins us now with more.
