European Film Festival Makes Stop in Windy City

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

French novelist and filmmaker Catherine Breillat has raised an eyebrow or two with her smart, sexually explicit work. That, plus a bit of graphic violence, has earned her a reputation as controversial. This time around, her unsettling vision has landed on a classic fairytale—French author Charles Perrault's Bluebeard.

Joining us to talk about what Breillat has done with the story of an ogre and his many wives is Christy LeMaster, is the director of the Nightingale Theater in Chicago and writes about film for Cine-File, the weekly guide to alternative cinema.
