Swingin’ Jazz Sounds in Hyde Park

This weekend, Hyde Park will sway to the sounds of Jazz. It's the neighborhood's 4th annual Jazz Festival. Throughout the one-day event, you'll be able to catch a whole range of performers at no less than 13 different venues. But there are other things making Hyde Park a hub for jazz. A number of jazz musicians call Hyde Park their home. And the University of Chicago houses the vast Chicago Jazz Archive Collection, accessible to scholars and fans alike. To find out more about this weekend's activity, and Hyde Park's place on the Jazz map we turn to two women. Judith Stein is on the board of the Hyde Park Jazz Society and Deborah Gillaspie is curator of the Chicago Jazz Archive Collection.
