Roadtrip: Conversations with Illinois voters

The Potato Shak in Rockford, Ill.

As part of our series of conversations with voters in Illinois, Richard Steele took us to Loves Park, Ill., just outside of Rockford. Last Tuesday morning the Potato Shak was packed. But Richard found the locals were ready to chat about the election.

Darrel Smith used to work in manufacturing: He’s now retired. Christine Lippitt is unemployed and Diana Cullen is a teacher. Diana says that when it comes to Illinois races like the ones for Governor and U.S. Senate, she’s just about had enough.

Listen tomorrow when Richard takes Interstate 39 south to Bloomington. The Illinois Farm Bureau headquarters are there. Richard talks with some farmers from around the state.
