The dollars and cents of medical marijuana in Illinois

The Illinois General Assembly will hear a medical marijuana bill tomorrow during the upcoming veto session.

When Illinois lawmakers pick up their veto session, one of the bills up for debate will be Senate Bill 1381. That legislation would allow people to possess marijuana for medical reasons.

To find out more about how medical marijuana has worked in other states and its link to overall legalization, Eight Forty-Eight spoke with Jeffrey Miron. He’s a senior lecturer and Director of the Undergraduate Studies at Harvard University’s economics department.

Miron says medical marijuana legislation doesn’t necessarily lead to the legalization of pot.
